Are we seriously having the same argument again?
It shouldn’t be this hard.
If this were meant to be, my partner would just get it.
It’s only common sense.
My partner is too emotional.
They’re too distant.
I feel so misunderstood.
I miss my best friend…
Sound familiar? When conflict wears you down and your attempts to reconnect just lead to more hurt, it can be hard to imagine a way forward. Whether you have caused hurt, experienced it, or both, there is a path toward repair and reconnection.
I deeply believe in the evidence-based methods we use at The Couples Clinic to reshape old patterns of thinking and interacting to enhance connection. These methods have strengthened my own 30-year marriage and improved how I relate with family, friends, and colleagues. I wish I had learned them sooner.
Relationships are complex and we can inadvertently hurt the people we love the most. If you’re willing to explore the gifts and patterns each of you brings, I welcome you to reach out. Together, we can move from adversaries to allies who understand and support each other, while honoring who each of you are at your core.
